The need for new infrastructure arose when XAP’s data had grown more than 8X in volume within 6 months. Their legacy data infrastructure couldn’t keep up - 

  • It slowed down data analysis and decision-making 
  • Organizing and modeling data was time-consuming. Nested JSON data in MongoDB added to the woes
  • Creating new dashboards was slow and resource-intensive

In addition to internal data analysis, XAP wanted to share insights with their customers - by embedding dashboards within the product and sharing data directly to the customer’s warehouse. This wasn’t possible with their legacy data stack.

  • 5X Ingestion allowed XAP to effortlessly ingest large-scale, deeply nested JSON data from MongoDB, without compromising performance. 5X built customer data connectors, enabling data movement across all their systems.
  • 5X Modeling helped transform MongoDB data into a structured, analysis-ready format. By organizing and standardizing the data, XAP's data team was able to swiftly derive actionable insights, enhancing both accessibility and accuracy in their analysis.
  • 5X Orchestration ensured reliable data flow with automation of end-to-end data pipelines, from ingestion through modeling to BI dataset refresh.

Once the foundational data infrastructure was in place, the 5X data consultancy stepped in to create and automate data pipelines - 

  • They reconfigured warehouse workloads by separating ETL from BI queries and utilizing multi-cluster compute resources, drastically improving query response times and lowering compute costs.
  • Helped XAP upgrade its BI system to Sigma. Integrating it with the underlying layers, enables XAP data engineers to create dashboards and embed them within the product.
  • Created a security layer in the warehouse and protocols to enable seamless data sharing between XAP and its customers.
